Other biographic trivia:
- Vegetarian, preferably vegan, I enjoy cooking. More
than 25000 pigs and almost a million chickens are killed each
day in Belgium.
- No driver’s license. Cars suck and traffic is ridiculous. I like
cycling, trains are a fair alternative.
- I don’t make use (as far as I know) of generative AI tools developed
by big tech companies. The environmental
hazard is enough of a reason. Anyhow, they only make sense to use in
a world which does not make sense, so don’t call me backward.
- Still living smarthpone-free, and hoping to continue to do so.
- Cat person. Dogs are OK, but for unclear reasons they tend not to
like me.
- I like to consider myself an amateur bryologist and mycologist –
although I’m not very good. Here are some recent waarnemingen.
- Favorite programming language: Julia; interested in FP
languages (e.g. Haskell), but somehow I never get off the ground with it
for real.
- Favorite software tools: pandoc, vim, cmus, vimwiki.
- Favorite authors: John Cage, H. D. Thoreau, Robert Ashley,
Morton Feldman, Immanuel Kant, Gaston Bachelard (Psychanalyse du
Feu, …), L. P. Boon (Kappelekensbaan), W. F. Hermans, Hugo Claus,
Gerard Reve, Michel Houellebecq, Céline, Imre Kertesz, Vladimir Nabokov
(Ada), Milan Kundera, John Steinbeck (Tortilla Flat),
Patricia de Martelaere, Isabelle Stengers, Robert Rosen, Edwin Jaynes,
J. B. S. Haldane, Harold Jeffreys, Bruno de Finetti, Raymond Smullyan,
Alenka Zupancic (Ethics of the Real), Kurt Gödel
(Zeiteinteilung, Maximem), …
